About:
Brian Downing is a highly skilled and experienced litigation attorney who has tried over 150 trials to a jury or Court. Brian began his career in the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office, and he tried his first felony criminal trial, 1st Chair, shortly after becoming licensed, representing a client charged with bank robbery.Mr. Downing served as in-house counsel for Farmers Insurance, and Corporate Legal Counsel for State Farm for 12 years. During his time as in-house counsel for the insurance carriers, Brian tried over 40 jury trials and numerous bench trials as lead counsel. Mr. Downing gained invaluable experience as in-house counsel, conducting thousands of depositions, handling complex legal issues, discovery disputes, expert evidence, and representing large corporations in litigation.
Brian moved to Denver, Colorado, 11 years ago, and he began working for a large personal injury plaintiff’s firm. During his time there, Brian tried 6 solo jury trials, and obtained a verdict in excess of $2,000,000.00, on behalf of one of his clients. Brian expanded the types of cases he represented clients in while working for the plaintiff’s firm, including Bad Faith litigation, commercial trucking cases, government claims, and a Title IX case involving the University of Colorado. Brian represented clients with a wide variety of injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, anoxic brain injuries, amputations, and numerous surgical cases, requiring Brian to familiarize himself with many medical terms, procedures, and diagnoses.
Mr. Downing has represented clients in a variety of litigation during his career as an attorney. Mr. Downing defended a corporation in an action alleging securities fraud by the corporation’s former executives in a jury trial that resulted in a judgment in favor of his client. Mr. Downing has also handled matters involving aviation and aerospace, business disputes, class actions, commercial litigation, commercial leases, commercial transactions, complex litigation, computer liability, construction defects, employment law, financial institutions, fire and explosions, insurance coverage disputes, landlord tenant actions, marijuana businesses, mechanic’s liens and foreclosures, medical device litigation, partnership disputes and dissolutions, pharmaceutical litigation, premises liability, product liability, securities law, ski and snowboard litigation.
